The Joe Duffy Group opened its second Porsche showroom, Porsche Centre South Dublin on 9th February. Located on Rochestown Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, this 1 st in Ireland Porsche “satellite” centre will complement the flagship Porsche Centre in Dublin 11. It features aboutique showroom, including a dedicated handover lounge and a service department with six work bays and three dialogue bays along with high speed charging stations for their electric/hybrid range. The architecture reflects an evolution of the Porsche corporate identity that now features an exterior aluminium façade with highlight LED strips and logo. DFK Consultants acted as the Civil and Structural Consulting Engineers for this iconic project, delivering key engineering expertise throughout the development. Their role included the
design and coordination of the civil and structural elements of the project, ensuring the building was safe, functional, and constructed to the highest standards. The project involved working with an existing building structure and a number of extensions that had been added over several years, which created some challenging site conditions in order to provide such a high quality development. They also served as BCAR Consultants, overseeing compliance with Building Control (Amendment) Regulations and ensuring all works adhered to the relevant statutory building regulations. In addition, DFK Consultants provided Fire Safety and Disability Access Certificate (DAC) Consultancy, supporting the project in meeting fire safety and accessibility requirements. DFK Consultants fulfilled the role of Assigned Certifier, coordinating inspections and certification to confirm that construction works were carried out in accordance with the approved design and regulatory requirements, all to a tight deadline ensuring a seamless
validation process. They also acted as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP), managing health and safety considerations during the design and construction stage and ensuring potential risks were identified and addressed. Through these responsibilities, DFK Consultants played a key role in ensuring the Porsche Satellite Centre project was delivered safely, compliantly, and to a high professional
standard.
